Galway city news Water outages in Salthill due to burst mains today

Athenry, Clarinbridge and Kilcolgan towns are all without a water supply today due to a burst water main in Athenry.

Irish Water says that repairs are underway to restore full water supply following a serious mains break at Raheen, Athenry.

The burst mains has left Athenry Reservoir severely depleted, which has resulted in the water to these towns being cut off.

It’s estimated by Irish Water that it will take crews several hours to fix the mains and restore water levels to the reservoir.

Galway County Council has closed the road between Derrydonnell roundabout and Ennis Bridge in town while repairs are underway.

Repairs are also continuing today on fixing a severe issue on the Dublin road, where a faulty main has been causing water outages since yesterday, which will continue today as works resume.
