Galway Daily weather weather warning for low temperature and ice

Motorists have been urged to be careful when making essential journeys this morning due to icy patches on roads across the county.

There are currently two trucks are blocking the N59 between Oughterard and Maam Cross, and Gardai are at the scene.

The road is especially slippery, according to AA Roadwatch.

People are being advised to avoid this route if possible.

Galway is not included in Met Éireann’s  status yellow snow and ice warning, but conditions on the roads could remain dangerous for some time.

Today will be a mostly bright, cold day, with temperatures of no more than 6 degrees in the afternoon sun.

Tonight, New Year’s Eve, will be freezing yet again.
