Westside Shopping Centre is getting a modern facelift after the City Council has approved plans for renovation works on the building.
Planning permission has been granted for refurbishments to the southern and western facades of the building, where it’s public entrance is
These will consist primarily of new cladding and signage, as well as landscaping works in the existing car park.
C+W O’Brien Architects, acting on behalf of Westside Shopping Centre Ltd, said that the new owners are seeking to modernise its appearance.
The council’s planning inspectors noted in their report that the existing facades of the building are “of their era”, and that the proposed revamp would be a welcome improvement.
Planning permission was granted by Galway City Council with three standard conditions attached.
