An Irish travel start-up has been given over €7,000 through the LEADER programme to establish an office in Loughrea.

The allocation comes under the heading of ‘rural tourism’ and will see Executive Premier Travel Ltd (Luxury Irish Tours) open an office at Gurtymadden, Loughrea.

Minister Ciaran Cannon welcomed the funding, saying: “I’m delighted with confirmation from Minister Ring that €7,013 has been allocated under the LEADER programme to establish dedicated office-space for a start-up business, Executive Premier Travel Ltd (Luxury Irish Tours) at Gurtymadden, Loughrea.”

The Minister said that this is indicative of the Government`s commitment to growing visitor numbers to rural regions in Ireland.

“Minister Ring has now announced almost €68 million in funding for 1,989 LEADER projects and this increase reflects a significant expansion of activity over the last 21 months since the introduction of a range of measures to make the programme work better for both potential applicants and for the LEADER Local Action Groups which deliver the programme on the ground,” he added.
