Lorry overturns in traffic collision on the N59

The N59 has been closed to traffic between Oughterard and Maam Cross today after a lorry overturned in a collision on the road this morning.

A two vehicle traffic collision occurred between Oughterard and Maam Cross earlier this morning, during which a lorry overturned.

Gardaí are at the scene of the incident, and the N59 road has been closed to traffic in both directions.

No further information is available at this time, as Gardaí say the situation is still developing.

Galway County Council is advising motorists to be careful of hazardous conditions on the roads today, as Galway remains under a warning for Storm Francis.

The Status Orange warning for Connacht has been extended by Met Eireann to 6pm this evening, with heavy rainfall expected this afternoon.
