Galway daily news Shortlist revealed for Galway Chamber Business Awards

The shortlist of local businesses in the running for the 2018 Galway Chamber Business Awards has been announced.

The Galway Chamber Business Awards in association with the Shannon Group celebrate the best and most innovative of Galway’s business community each year.

The 2018 awards are pushing Galway’s businesses as competitive on the world stage with the theme  ‘Western Edge, Global Ambition

Businesses are nominated in seven categories: Best Emerging Enterprise, Best Innovation/R&D, Best Small to Medium Enterprise, Best Customer Service, Best Marketing, Best Social Enterprise/CSR, Best Tourism Product/Campaign.

The nominees for 2018 are:

Best Emerging Enterprise: Showhouz, creating video tours for estate agents; NVP Energy, reducing costs and generating electricity from treating wastewater; and The UX Studio, creating digital user experiences for companies.

Best Innovation/R&D: DeCare Dental, dental insurance providers; GMIT and Enterprise Ireland’s Medical & Engineering Technologies Gateway; and gteic Gréasán Digiteach, a network of digital innovation hubs in our Gaeltacht.

Best Small to Medium Enterprise: Winters Property Management, Collin McNicholas Recruitment and HR agency, and Sweeney Oil.

Best Customer Service: P&O Maritime (Ireland) Ltd; Killkenny Shop, Ireland’s largest supplier of Irish craft and design right here on High street; and QuickTec Galway IT support service.

Best Marketing Including Social & Digital Media: The Hyde Bar and Gin Parlour, Connacht Rugby, and St. Anthony’s Credit Union.

Best Social Enterprise/CSR: Kirby Group Engineering & Construction, mechanical and electrical engineering contractors; NUI Galway Community Knowledge Initiative, fostering partnerships between communities and the university; and Saol Café.

Best Tourism Product/Campaign: Galway Food Tours, Magnet Networks, and Galway Convention Bureau.

Two other special awards will also be handed out on the night. One of the winners from the seven categories will be named Overall Business of the year.

This award is sponsored by the Shannon Group.

While one individual will be honoured for their exception contribution to the business community in Galway with the President’s Award, sponsored by PwC.

The President of Galway Chamber and its officer board will chose the recipient of this prize.

The Galway Chamber Business Awards and Gala will take place on December 1 at the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill.
