The cost of renting properties in Galway city and county has risen again in the latest Daft.ie report released today.
Rents in Galway city shot up by 4.6% in the last quarter of 2020 compared to the year before, while in the county rents increased by 2.4%.
The average listed property in the city is now €1,370, while in the county it is €956.
Today’s Daft.ie report shows that across much of the country, renting during the last three months of 2020 was more expensive than in 2019.
In Co. Galway, a one bedroom apartment will now cost €703 per month, and a two bedroom house will set you back €780.
In the city a one bed apartment will cost €1,009, while renting a two bedroom house is on average €1,102.
In the city, a the average rent for a double bedroom rose by 14.3% to €535, and in the suburbs, average rents rose to €486 for a double room.
For a single bedroom, it will cost €469 on average in the city centre – an increase of 20.9% on the year before.
Rents increased by 0.9% nationally despite prices in Dublin falling by 3% overall and by 5.6% in the city centre.
Donegal and Leitrim have the lowest rents in the country, at €665 and €624 respectively.
