Plans to demolish derelict building for new housing development

Planning permission is being sought to demolish a derelict building in Woodford to make way for a residential development.

A planning application has been made to demolish a derelict ruin of a building on the corner of Main Street and Barrack Lane in Woodford.

In its place the developer intends to build five two-bedroom townhouses, with two on street parking spaces fitted with electric charging points.

“The proposed site is an infill site located in the village core of Woodford,” a cover report for the residential development states.

“The sitting and layout of the building have been designed to enhance the existing village streetscape on the Main Street. The remaining houses are located to the rear off barrack Lane.”

A decision on this planning application is due from Galway County Council by May 2 of this year.
