The hosepipe ban in place since last month will be lifted in Galway later this week Uisce Eireann has confirmed today.
A water conservation order was issued in July due to prolonged dry weather, prohibiting the use of hosepipes for water gardens, cleaning cars, or filling pools and water features.
The order will be lifted from Thursday, August 26 for Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo and Westmeath.
The conservation order will remain in place for Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Meath, Offaly, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
Inis Mór remains under nightly water restrictions from 5pm each evening until 9am the following morning. These are currently expected to remain in place until the end of the month.
