The HSE has sent an urgent letter to parents and guardians at a Galway school after multiple students tested positive for COVID-19.

The Daily Mirror reports that all close contacts of the cases have been contacted.

The worrying development comes after 17 students tested positive for the virus at a school in Co. Cork, which is now closed for two weeks.

The school in Galway remains open despite the outbreak.

The HSE letter says that close contacts, siblings and all household contacts should then also be kept at home on restricted movements, according to the Daily Mirror.
