There were 70 people waiting on trolleys in Galway’s hospitals this morning, with UHG the third most overcrowded in Ireland.

INMO figures show that there were 61 patients without a bed at University Hospital Galway at 8am, while nine more people were on trolleys at Portiuncula Hospital

At UHG, there were 50 people on trolleys in the emergency department, and another 11 without a bed in the wards.

There were 575 people on trolleys in Irish hospitals today, with the worst affected being University Hospital Limerick, where 84 people were without a bed.

The second most overcrowded hospital in the State was Cork University Hospital, with 65 people on trolleys.
