Members of the Gardaí in Loughrea did more than just dip their toes in raising money for Croí Heart & Stroke charity recently.

Thirteen gardaí from Loughrea took a dive in the freezing waters of the lake last weekend in order to raise money for the heart and stroke charity.

Their suffering was not in vain, as a total of €1,500 was raised as a result of the event to support the good work of Croí.

Local Civil Defence members were at hand on the day to provide safety for the event, as well as any medical attention if it were needed.

Croí supports heart disease ans stroke awareness, support, and research efforts throughout the west of Ireland.

The work of Croí includes eaising awareness on a local and national level about the risk factors for heart disease and stroke, providing training for healthcare professionals, free healthcare checks, supporting research and more.
