Galway RNLI Lifeboat rescues three kayakers near Barna

Three kayakers who found themselves in distress in the water near Barna were rescued by the Galway City RNLI lifeboat yesterday evening.

The Galway Lifeboat was deployed after three kayakers found themselves in trouble in the water at around 5:30pm on Saturday.

The Irish Coast Guard Rescue 115 helicopter and the Costello Bay Coast Guard unit were also dispatched to the scene.

The three people had been brought back to shore by the RNLI lifeboat by the time the helicopter arrived on the scene.

The winchman paramedic was deployed from Rescue 115, and assessed the three kayakers before they were brought to a waiting ambulance.

The three people were brought to UHG for further medical assessment.
