Galway man wins €20,000 on scratch card his mum bought him

One Galway man is thanking the lucky stars for his mum after winning €20,000 on a scratch card she bought him.

The ecstatic Connemara man was gifted the €2 Diamond Deluxe Doubler by his mum.

She’d picked the National Lottery scratch card up at a Spar in Carraroe.

The lucky man told the Irish Independent that he’d left the card untouched in the car for a couple of days.

When he finally got around to having a go at the scratch card, the lucky winner, who wished to remain anonymous, said he couldn’t believe his luck.

This was a great thing to win just in time for the holiday season, he suggested.

Asked what he plans to spend the winnings on, he said that he would be doing some house renovations.

Other than that, his nieces and nephews, and most certainly his mum, are going to be in for a great Christmas.
