A recent card drive in memory of the late Michael Sweeney raised €2,700 for Galway Hospice.

Friends and family of Michael organised a card drive at Kilconly Community Centre in aid of Galway Hospice.

In a post on its facebook page, the hospice reached out to say “Thank you to everyone who supported the memorial fundraising event.”

Michael Sweeney passed away last October, and is survived by his wife Nellie, sons Martin, Stephen, Michael and Pat, as well as a wealth of brothers, sisters, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.

Galway Hospice is the primary source of palliative care in Galway, operating an 18 bed facility in Renmore with residential and day care services.

It heavily relies on the donations of generous souls to keep providing this essential service to look after the most vulnerable people in our society.
