Galway festivals are set to receive over €360,000 in funding this year.

The funding will be provided by Fáilte Ireland and is expected to boost tourist numbers in Galway and increase the footfall to local businesses.

The Galway Film Fleadh will receive €16,000 and the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival is set to receive €30,000.

The Galway International Arts Festival will receive the largest allocation, of €300,000, while the Vodafone Comedy Festival will get €10,000, and Clifden Arts Festival will receive €8,500.

Commenting on the announcement today, Minister Ciaran Cannon said: “These festivals really add to the character of the area and are great for generating community spirit.

“The allocation of funding will be used to enhance existing festivals, develop new festival ideas and support St. Patrick’s Day celebrations here in Galway.”
