Traffic disruption is expected on the N83 for several weeks while roadworks are taking place between Galway City and Claregalway.
The county council is carrying out resurfacing works on the N83 between Claregalway and the Parkmore Junction.
The work began on Thursday at the Claregalway end of the affected area, and will continue working towards Parkmore in the coming weeks.
It is expected that the roadworks will take five weeks to complete, with traffic management and lane closures during the works.
Motorists travelling to Galway are advised to divert from Baile Chláir towards Oranmore and use M6 Motorway via exit 19.
Motorists travelling from Galway to Baile Chláir are advised to divert via City by M6 Motorway and exiting at Junction 19.
Consequently users of this road are requested to expect delays and as such should allow additional time for their journeys.
