The first wheelchair swing in Galway city has been installed at Claude Toft Playground in Salthill.
Wheelchair swings allow for a wheelchair to roll onto a platform and the rider uses a bar to create the swinging motion.
Galway City Council says the swing is a step forward in inclusive play experiences, as it promotes social interaction for a inclusive experience by encouraging multiple children of all abilities to play together.
The council says that the swing is not segregated from the play space, and helps improves motor skills such as agility, balance, coordination, and upper body strength.
