Gardaí are making a renewed appeal for information regarding a pipe bomb found in a Tuam housing estate last month.

Gardai called the Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal squad to the Cuirt na Cora estate on the Weir Road in Tuam on May 12 after discovering a suspect device.

Members of the Army EOD team from Athlone attended the scene on that morning, and multiple nearby homes were evacuated.

It was established that this pipe bomb was a viable explosive device, which made safe and removed from the area by the EOD team.

An Garda Síochána is appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Weir Road in Tuam from approximately 10pm on Tuesday, May 11 and 8.30am on Thursday, May 12, and who may have information, to make contact with them.
