A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found following a fire in the west of Ireland on Sunday evening.
Shortly after 6:30pm this evening, Gardaí and Emergency Services responded to reports of a fire at a house on Pheasanthill, Castlebar.
The body of a man was discovered inside the residence.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with this death.
He is currently detained in Castlebar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The scene is currently preserved and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau, and Office of the State Pathologist are being requested.

Gardaí have said that the investigation is ongoing, and that they have no further comment at this time.
