The 14-day COVID-19 incidence rate in county Galway has been more than cut in half in the past to weeks.

As of Tuesday’s statement from NPHET, the incidence rate in Galway was 142.2 cases per 100,000 people, down from 330.5 on February 23.

Galway’s incidence rate was at that time the fourth highest in the country, behind Offaly, Monaghan, and Dublin, but it has now dropped down to the twelfth highest.

The five day average of new cases each day has also dropped dramatically in Galway, from 52 down to 16 daily COVID-19 cases.

There were 12 new cases reported in Galway yesterday, out of 311 nationwide.
