The Cong to Galway Sailing Race due to take place this weekend has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
The longest inland sailing race in Europe, the race begins at Lisloughrey Pier in Cong, Co. Mayo and travels the full length of Lough Corrib to finish in Galway City.
The annual race was due to take place this Saturday, but Galway Hooker Sailing Club said on Friday morning that
However, race organisers said in the same statement that they will be hoping to put the event on in August.
“Unfortunately we have to postpone this due to unsuitable weather conditions for the lake on Saturday. We’ll look forward to it again in August. Stay tuned for more.”
