Galway city council is holding a collection for people to dispose of bulky waste cheaply tomorrow.

The bulky waste collection will take place at the Parkmore entrance to Ballybrit Racecourse on Saturday, August 17 from 8:15am until 1pm, or until the service reaches maximum capacity.

Admission is €5, cash only, and people can drop off a maximum of four items. All quantities will also be limited by volume restrictions.

This event is for household goods only, no commercial or industrial waste will be taken.

The only items being accepted at this event are couches, armchairs, carpets, dining sets, mattresses, and bed bases.

Please refer to the environment section of the city council website for information on how to dispose of other bulky waste items.

The city council has stressed that this collection is meant for city residents only, and that proof of identity and address, such as a driving licence and utility bill, may be requested on the day.
