An innovative online platform has been supporting independent cafés, bars and restaurants in Galway and across the country during the COVID-19 crisis.

Vouch For, created by Irish tech company Recroot, allows businesses to sell digital vouchers to customers which can be redeemed in store when they reopen. Many of these businesses do not have the ability to sell vouchers online, and in most cases, they don’t have an online presence.

Independents who already sell vouchers online can also be listed on the website.

The project came about when the Recroot team became aware of the devastating effects the COVID-19 crisis would have on the hospitality industry and the more than 100 stores using Recroot in Dublin.

Commenting on the project Nev Flynn, Co-Founder of Vouch For, said: “There is a huge
generosity of spirit and sense of community right now in Ireland, and we want to do our
part to help our community cafés, bars and restaurants through this crisis.

“We are calling for businesses to sign up, and for customers to support during these times.”

Margins in hospitality are tight at the moment, so Vouch For has teamed up with Stripe, to offer completely commission free transactions and to help these independents with cash flow issues, and to stay afloat while the crisis continues.

Vouch For has is also supporting Galway Daily‘s new hospitality page which will be launched next week.

The new page will showcase all of the businesses in the hospitality sector across Galway, free of charge, and aims to give these businesses a boost in these challenging times.

Vouch For is looking to help independents nationwide, and are urging them to sign up at vouchfor.ie.
