The R336 Bearna to Spiddal Road has reopened following a hit-and-run incident at Furbo yesterday evening.

Gardaí were called to the scene at 7.30 pm yesterday evening where a woman had been found with serious injuries. She was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

A technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators took place this morning and the road remained closed overnight and throughout today, before reopening this evening.

Gardaí updated their appeal for information this afternoon. They are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the Furbo area between 6:15pm and 7:15pm on Wednesday, December 16 to contact gardaí.
