Almost 350 homes without electricity near Loughrea

Almost 350 homes and business in the Loughrea are without electricity this morning because of two separate line faults.

The ESB has reported two outages near Loughrea, one affecting 134 properties, and another at Gurtymadden affecting electricity to 212 homes and businesses.

Both faults occurred shortly around 10:30 this morning and the ESB has said that it expects repairs to be completed and power restored by 2:15pm.

Storm Atiyah is expected to bring gale force winds across Galway today, with a status orange wind warning in place from 1pm this afternoon until 6am on Monday morning.

Sustained winds of up to 80km/hr are expected today, with gusts reaching as high as 130km/hr.

The ESB has advised that customers may experience a loss of their power supply today, and that repair crews are on standby to deal with any storm damage.
