The Taibhdhearc are celebrating the beginning of summer and the sunshine with numerous events over the next few months.

“Summer is with us, and to celebrate the sun, here are some of the exciting events happening here on the stage of An Taibhdhearc between now and the end of July.

Sean Keane in Concert – Described as the most distinctive voice in Ireland, trad musician Sean Keane will be in residence at An Taibhdhearc on Monday nights through June and August this summer. He has toured the States performing with his sister Dolores, and recorded 10 albums, with his most recent, New Day Dawning, being released in late 2016. It featured songs like One More Hour and Nature’s Little Symphony, which quickly became fan favourites. For this residency, Sean will be joined by the equally talented Fergus Feely, Pat Coyne, David Doocey and Stephen Doherty. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see Keane’s unique take on Irish music in Galway over the summer. Tickets – €25

Science Magic – Triple award winning comedian and scientist Donal Vaughan presents his hugely popular science, comedy, magical family show to An Taibhdhearc. Forget Harry Potter, Donal is the real wizard. Using only things you find around the house, he will perform amazing tricks to show how magical science can be. Wanna see a potato rocket launcher? Or conjure dragons breath? Always exciting and sometimes very messy, learn about science and laugh your pants off while you do. The best part is all the tricks can be performed by you when you go home. Become a science wizard too and amaze your friends and family. Suitability 5+yrs.  Tickets €9.50/€30 Family

The Kings of Connaught – On June 15th you can hear Ireland’s latest folk and ballad sensation The Kings of Connaught. These young West of Ireland multi-instrumentalists feature Liam O’ Gray, Mark Costello, Macdara Conolly, Thomas Ryan and Michael Tully playing Irish ballads and folk songs in the great tradition of The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers and The Furey’s.
Joining The Kings of Connaught on the night will be a very special guest Louise Morrissey, who has long been regarded by folk and country music enthusiasts as one of Ireland’s greatest vocal treasures. Louise, along with her brother Norman, will sing some of their many classic songs from their days as Irish Folk Group The Morrissey’s. Tickets €15

My Journey Westward – A Bloomsday concert of music, song and story from the works of James Joyce, with the verse of Patrick Kavanagh and the humour of Percy French. Scripted and narrated by author and poet Gerard Hanberry and featuring Dublin Tenor Bryan Hoey. Tickets €15
