Gaeil na Gaillimhe CLG are looking for you!

Although many of our New Years Resolutions may have gone out the window as we near the end of January, it’s never too late to begin. With that being said, Gaeil na Gaillimhe CLG are looking for you!

Based in Galway city this Irish speaking football club, founded in 2016 has gone from strength to strength over the last few years. Entering their 5th year competing in both the Galway League and Championship competitions the Ladies and Men’s team are always looking to welcome new members.

Early in the season last year saw members of Gaeil na Gaillimhe travel to Monaghan as they took part in the Comórtas Peile Ard Fheis Conradh na Gaeilge, where one of the team members Eoghan De Búrca received Laoch na bhFear.

One of the founders of Gaeil na Gaillimhe, and chairperson this year, Stiofán Seoighe spoke about the importance of this club.

‘The club provides an opportunity for Irish speakers in the city to meet new people and make new friends through the medium of Irish and as well as that, the training sessions and the social outings provide great opportunities for those who want to develop and use their Irish.’

It’s time to dust off your football boots as Gaeil na Gaillimhe are welcoming new members and players of all levels and capabilities to join this Irish speaking club in Galway City  for the upcoming 2020 Season.

Captain of the ladies team Sarah Caulfield emphasises how friendly and open this team is to new members as she looks forward to the year ahead.

‘I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and welcoming them into the Gaeil na Gaillimhe family in ‘2020’. This team really is so friendly and open to new players.’

Going from strength to strength each year Gaeil na Gaillimhe are looking forward to the new season beginning and hoping to build on their form last year.

The ladies team enjoyed a weekend away to the Kingdom last year where they took part in the Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta and now already have the Comórtas 2020 in their sights.
