Australian company creating 20 jobs with Galway tech hub

Australian payment services provider EML Payments is creating 20 new jobs in Galway by setting up a tech and innovation centre here.

The creation of the new jobs in Galway is the result of €16 million deal last July where EML acquired financial tech company PerfectCard

EML offer prepaid payment services in Australia, Europe and North America, issuing mobile, virtual and physical card solutions for pay-outs, gifts, incentives and rewards as well as supplier payments.

The company’s services also include supplier enablement, payment execution, programme management and other services.

Managing Director & Group CEO of EML Tom Cregan said, “Having an Irish eMoney license allows EML to self-issue regulated payment products across the European Union without the need for external third-party BIN (Bank Identification Number) sponsors, which provides our customers with greater regulatory certainty.”

“Perfectcard provides EML with an excellent corporate expense and corporate incentive solution that we can grow in our existing geographies,” he added.

Minister for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation Heather Humphreys welcomed the announcement of the new jobs, calling it “a great vote of confidence in Galway and, in particular, the highly skilled local workforce.”

Currently on a trade mission in Australia, she added that the government has worked to make Ireland as welcoming as possible to outside investment.

This project is receiving the support of IDA Ireland. Executive Director of IDA Mary Buckley, who met EML in Australia, said this investment will strengthen Financial Services, FinTech and Software Development sectors in the area.

“This investment strengthens Ireland’s network in Australia with their presence in Galway and Wicklow. I wish the company every success with their new Technology & Innovation Hub in Galway.”
