A food innovation hub in Athenry has started accepting applications for the position of General Manager.
Applications for the role at the BIA Innovator Campus in the town will close at the end of this month.
Minister Ciaran Cannon has described this as ‘an exciting opportunity’ and he urged eligible candidates to apply.
He says that the role will offer candidates the opportunity to be at the forefront of a major new economic development in the West of Ireland.
“BIA Innovator Campus CLG is a step change project that will transform the food entrepreneurship landscape in the West of Ireland and was founded by Galway County Council, Teagasc, Athenry Community Council, Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board, the Western Development Commission and SCCUL,” said the Minister.
“In particular, it represents a major step forward in regional food workspace infrastructure by creating a state-of-the-art food and drink innovation and incubation centre.”
The Fine Gael TD added that this will lead to the creation of 360 jobs within 3 years and will see 2,400 individuals receive training, development and support.
“I am delighted therefore that a project with so much potential for both Athenry and the West of Ireland is now advertising for a General Manager and I encourage eligible candidates to apply,” he added.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 30 November at 4 pm with the first round of interviews taking place in the second week of January 2019.
