Pálás Cinema reopening next week with exciting lineup

The Pálás arthouse cinema in Galway City will be reopening next week with new safety measures and an exciting run of classic hits and indie gems.

The team at the Pálás cinema have been working to prepare new safety measures for their grand reopening on Monday, July 27, and put together a sparkling lineup of films to boot.

First in the new programme of films is Alex Thomson’s sparkling indie dark comedy Saint Frances, 40th anniversary screenings of The Empire Strikes Back for sci-fi lovers, and the Black & White Edition of Bong Joon Ho’s masterpiece Parasite.

Classic film lovers will appreciate a season of films scored by the utterly legendary Ennio Morricone, along with a season of Studio Ghibli movies for audiences of all ages.

Decidedly less suitable for younger audiences, but hotly anticipated all the same, the Pálás is rescheduling its planned David Lynch season as well this summer.

Back from the archives are all-time favourites such as Casablanca, Roman Holiday, joined by modern classics like Call Me By Your Name.

Cinema Book Club will host a screening of Clueless, based on Jane Austen’s Emma. And from the incredible mind of Phoebe Waller-Bridge comes National Theatre Live’s production of Fleabag.

“It has been a very long four months for lovers of cinema. For me, nothing can beat a trip to the cinema, and I’m so excited to finally be able to share a cinema experience again when we open our doors,” said Charlene, Programmer at the Pálás.

“Our programme is bursting with fun stuff to lure you back to the magic of the big screen while our staff have been working tirelessly to figure out how to keep you safe and comfortable when you visit so all you need to worry about is how big a popcorn to get.”
