A man was pronounced dead at hospital after being recovered from the waters of the River Corrib in Galway City yesterday.

Gardai and emergency services attended an incident at the Quincentenary Bridge at approximately 2:55pm on Monday.

A man, aged in his forties, was taken from the water by emergency services at the scene.

The man was then conveyed to University Hospital Galway, where he was later pronounced dead.
