Young Leitrim man missing in Clifden

Searches are taking place for a young Leitrim man who has been reported missing in Clifden this week.

The family of Cathal Whelan are appealing for help that might help locate the young man who has been reported missing and was last seen in Clifden on Tuesday evening.

Cathal Whelan, aged in his 20s and originally from Carrigallen in Leitrim, has been living in Clifden and is understood to have been working at a local restaurant.

Gardaí were informed of the situation on Thursday and are trying to establish his whereabouts. A public appeal for information has not been issued at this time.

Searches took place in the Clifden area yesterday and more are being carried out today.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the family of Cathal Whelan or their local garda station.
