Woman in critical condition after Christmas Eve traffic accident

A woman remains in critical condition after a road traffic accident which took place in Oughterard on Christmas Eve night.

A 52 year old woman was struck by a car at Carrowmanagh, Oughterard at approximately 8:45pm on Tuesday in a road traffic accident.

The injured pedestrian was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman in her late 40s, was uninjured gardaí said.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and in particular to anyone who travelled between Ougherard and Carrowmanagh between approximately 8pm and 9pm to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Salthill Garda Station 091-514 720 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

Gardaí have said that investigations into the traffic incident at ongoing.
