Festivals in Athenry and Headford to receive €6,500 in funding

Athenry’s Music, Arts and Heritage festival is set to receive €5,000 under the Small Local Festivals and Summer Schools Scheme.

Headford’s Headfest online event which celebrates music, sports and arts in Headford will also receive €1,500 under the scheme.

Minister Ciaran Cannon said he was ‘delighted’ that the events will receive funding through the scheme which is “designed to assist local cultural events which may not be eligible under funding criteria for larger scale events” through Fáilte Ireland, the Arts Council and other bodies.

“It is crucially important that we support cultural activities in communities across the region and especially as we move to get life back to normal following the pandemic”.

“I wish to congratulate all who are involved in organising these events which keep culture thriving in regions like East Galway,” said the Fine Gael TD.
