A motorcyclist in his 30s has died in a single vehicle crash on the Claregalway to Tuam road late on Friday night.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision at Carraghy, on the N83 Claregalway to Tuam road at approximately 11:40pm on Friday.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem examination will take place.
A Forensic Collision Investigators examination is currently being conducted at the scene.
The road remains closed at this time, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the N83 between Claregalway and Tuam between 11:00pm and 11:40pm, to come forward.
