Galway City Council has issued temporary swimming bans for Ballyloughane and Grattan Roacd beaches due to poor water quality testing results.

The council issued the prohibition notice for both beaches after receiving test results from water sampling done on Tuesday, August 4.

Prior warning notices had previously been issued for them, but these have now been upgraded to full swimming bans.

Further water sampling was done on Thursday, August 6, the results of which are expected next Monday.
