A public consultation is being held to get people’s views on using CCTV cameras to prevent illegal dumping in Galway City.
The city council is seeking public input on the implementation of CCTV for the prevention of littering and illegal dumping in the following areas:
- Fána Glas, Ballybane, Galway
- Sliabh Bán, Ballybane, Galway
The camers are meant to both help to prevent dumping, and to assist with the enforcement of the Litter Pollution Act, 1997, and the Waste Management Act 1996.
The council has said that the plans will adhere to the Codes of Practice for the Operation of CCTV for the Purposes of Prevention, Detection & Prosecution of Litter and Waste Offences.
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed scheme may be made in writing to the Environment Department, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Rd, Galway, H91 X4K8.
Alternatively, you may email submissions or observations at environment@galwaycity.ie not later than July 9.
