Status Orange weather warning issued for Storm Kathleen

Met Eireann has upgraded its predictions for Storm Kathleen this weekend, with a Status Orange weather warning issued for Galway.

A Status Orange wind warning will be in place for four counties: Galway, Mayo, Cork, and Kerry on Saturday.

Storm Kathleen will bring gale force southerly winds, with some severe and damaging gusts.

The orange weather warning will be in place from 7am to 5pm on Saturday.

During this time there will be a risk of power outages and coastal flooding in these counties.

Motorists are also being advised of extremely dangerous driving conditions, with a risk of fallen trees and other debris.

After the orange weather warning has passed, a Status Yellow wind warning will remain in place for all of Ireland until 8pm Saturday.
