Cyclist seriously injured in Claregalway collision

A teenage cyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving a car in Claregalway earlier this week.

GardaĆ­ are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision on Tuesday night.

At around 8:00pm, GardaĆ­ and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and a pedal cyclist at Claregalway on the N83 (formerly the N17).

The cyclist, a teenage boy, was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Galway, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and the road has since been fully reopened.

GardaĆ­ are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage between Loughgeorge and Claregalway between 8:00pm and 8:30pm are asked to make this available to investigating GardaĆ­.
