Wind and rain to batter Galway as multiple weather warnings issued

Bad weather is expected to continue battering Galway and the west coast into next week, with multiple weather warnings issued by Met Eireann.

A Status Yellow wind and rain warning has been issued for all of Connacht and Munster on Sunday.

From Sunday afternoon, a spell of heavy rain will move northwards along with strengthening southeasterly winds. Some spot flooding is also expected, Met Eireann has said.

This will be in effect from 1pm on Sunday afternoon until 10pm that night.

Galway won’t see any let up in the weather however, as a wind warning for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo will be in place from 10pm Sunday until midday on Monday.

Southeasterly winds, veering southwesterly will reach mean speeds of 50 – 65km/h with gusts of 90 – 110km/h, higher near coasts and exposed areas.

Further heavy showers are also expected along the west coast on Sunday night and into Monday morning.
