A status yellow warning has been issued for Galway by Met Éireann ahead of high winds which could lead to hazardous conditions for road users on Thursday.

Met Éireann is warning of very strong winds, and high waves are also expected during the weather warning.

The forecasters are also warning people in Galway that debris and loose objects may be displaced, and that there will be difficult driving and cycling conditions.

As well as Galway, the status yellow warning affects Clare, Donegal, Kerry, Leitrim, Mayo, and Roscommon.

It comes into effect at midnight tonight, remaining in place until 8pm tomorrow (Thursday).
