A status yellow weather warning has been issued for three counties along the West  coast, including Galway.

The Met Éireann warning for wind will come into effect tomorrow, Sunday, at 12pm and will remain in place until 10pm.

The weather experts say northwest winds will strengthen on Sunday, with mean wind speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 90 to 100km.

The weather warning has also been issued for counties Clare and Kerry.

As for today, it will be mainly dry with bright or sunny spells. A few scattered showers will occur in coastal areas and showers could turn heavy in the evening.

It will remain cooler than normal, with maximum temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.
