Galway is expected to receive protracted heavy rain tonight and all through Tuesday, creating a risk of flooding a weather warning states.
A status yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Galway, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo by Met Eireann.
The alert issued this afternoon will come into effect at 8pm this evening, and remain in place throughout tomorrow until midnight Tuesday.
“Heavy rain on Monday night followed by frequent showers during Tuesday,” have been forecast by Met Eireann.
Accummulations of up to 40mm rain ate expected, creating a risk of localised flooding.
