Met Eireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for heavy winds in Galway and across the west/northwest overnight.
The wind warning for Galway, Mayo, and Donegal will be in force from midnight tonight until 8am on Saturday morning.
During this time, east to southeast winds will reach average speeds of 50-65 km/hr, with gusts reaching up to 90km/hr.
The worst of the winds forecast in this weather warning will be experienced in coastal areas.
Despite this alert for the early hours of Saturday, Met Eireann has forecast a mostly fair day with some periods of sunny skies amidst overcast weather.
Some light scattered showers will return later on Saturday evening, and temperatures during the day will peak at 13 to 14 degrees.
