Water outages affecting homes and businesses in Glenamaddy and surrounding areas are expected to continue into Tuesday night.

Irish Water has said that “essential works” following a pump failure in Glenamaddy are scheduled to last until 8pm this evening.

These may cause low pressure or water outages in Glenamaddy Town, on the Kilkerrin Road, Creggs Road, and to customers supplied by Knockmascahill Group Water Scheme.

Typically it takes two to three hours following the completion of works for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.

Rónan Daly of Irish Water said that they understand that this kind of work can be very inconvenient for people..

“Working in partnership with Galway County Council, we will make every effort to minimise the disruption that these necessary works may cause.”

He added that “customers may experience some temporary discolouration of water following the works and occasionally issues such as internal airlocks may arise.”
