Galway City will review its decision to close off the Spanish Arch and Claddagh Basin in light of social distancing issues next week.
The council was forced to close those amenity areas a week ago when large numbers of people gathered outdoors in the good weather, raising concerns about social distancing requirement to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Other areas closed off by the council and gardaí include parking at Silverstrand and Ballyloughane beach, as well as Blackrock diving tower and the road behind the golf course.
This included the installation of fencing, barriers and extra signage.
A number of public amenities around the city had begun to reopen from May 18 during Phase 1 of the first easing of lockdown restrictions.
The city council has said today that these measures will remain in place over the weekend, but that they will be reviewed next week.
