Presentation College in Headford is seeking approval to supplement its existing facilities with temporary classrooms.

Planning permission is being sought to build three temporary portacabin classrooms for the pupils of Presentation College secondary school at Ellagh, Headford.

The gross floor space of the three temporary classrooms is 307.3m².

Founded in 1942, Presentation College Headford is a coeducational, Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Tuam.

After spending its first few years in an unused army hut and the local parochial hall, the Pres moved to a purpose built school in 1953.

In the decades since then it has expanded multiple times, adding facilities for woodwork, metalwork, arts, computers and more in 1978, a modern sports centre in 1982, and further extensions in 1991, 2004, 2010, and 2013.

Galway county council is due to make a decision on permission for these temporary classrooms by June 17.
