NUI Galway is seeking planning permission for new spectator stands at the university’s Sportsground in Dangan.
Plans have been submitted to the city council for a mini-grandstand measuring 3m wide x 3.4m high x 16m long.
The covered grandstand will be located on the lower embankment on the southern side of the GAA pitch.
This will provide an additional 48 seats for match spectators, which will be shielded from the rain, along with two wheelchair bays.
Galway City Council is due to make a decision on this planning application by mid September.
