NPHET has said that no counties should see their restriction level change this week, meaning Galway will not be elevated to Level Three following an increase in Covid cases.

RTÉ reports that NPHET has also recommended that a maximum of six people from one household should be allowed visit another household.

This new restriction would be brought in across the country should it be implemented.

Currently, this measure is only in place in Donegal and Dublin.

The National Public Health Emergency Team met earlier today to decide whether to recommend further restrictions in some counties which are seeing a sharper increase in cases.

Twenty-eight new cases were confirmed in Galway yesterday, as well as one further COVID-19 death in the State.

There are 130 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the Republic of Ireland.
